Salting the Kiln

Stoking the salt chamber. The primary air inlet is directly below the stoke hole. Air is also entering the firebox through "mouseholes", tubes which pass under the upper floor of the Anagama. They are illustrated in the kiln drawing as blue lines. The mousehole air is preheated by the brickwork, which increases the intensity of the fire. The welder's facemask protects my eyes from the white hot incandescence of the firebox.
